If you want to enjoy a tasty cocktail, but prefer to avoid the alcohol, look no further than the Vocktail, a high-tech drinking glass that lets you enjoy the flavor of your favorite drink — without the booze. This electronic glass was developed by Nimesha Ranasinghe, a research fellow at the National University of Singapore.
Vocktail tricks your eyes, nose, and taste buds into believing that the plain water you are sipping is your favorite drink.
It turns water into any other drink via three layers of sensory stimulation
The first layer involves changing the color of the drink with LED lights to force your brain to see the color of your favorite drink. The second layer comprises silver electrodes along the rim of the glass that stimulate the taste buds on the tongue so the plain water seems to taste sweet, salty or sour. The third layer consists of micropumps equipped with flavor cartridges that spray in front of your nose to fool your sense of smell into detecting a variety of flavors.
The programmable cocktail glass has a smartphone app that lets you customize your beverage by changing the color, smell, and taste of the drink.
