Recently, I wrote an article covering two new robots tasked with exploring the depths of Fukushima’s abandoned shell.
Unfortunately, cleaning up the Fukushima reactor continues to prove to be an extremely daunting adventure, resulting in the two snake-like reconnaissance bots having to be abandoned inside the reactor.
One robot got stuck, and the other’s camera was damaged by radiation, but the good thing is that TEPCO has a small robot army as replacements.
TEPCO’s robots can do pretty much everything from radiation measurement to decontamination with dry ice blasts, something humans cannot even come close to doing without potentially fatal effects.
Hopefully, a robot up for the task can step up its game soon or Fukushima will quickly turn into even more of a robot graveyard than it already is.
