In the near future, your daily commute will become easier with a new type of shoe that turns into roller skates just by a click of a button.
A startup named Cardiff Skate Company has invented a new type of shoes called Walk Wings that can be easily strapped on regular shoes when needed. Sliding a lever at the back of the shoes transforms the shoes into roller skates…ready for high-speed action.
Each Walk Wing is fitted with retractable wheels. The four wheels drop down into place when you slide the lever. The polyurethane wheels work well on any kind of surface. You can stop by using a heel brake when needed.
If you come across stairs or uneven surfaces, you can retract the wheels to their original position and walk normally. Walk Wings also come with a custom backpack for carrying them when not in use.
Cardiff Skate Company is currently raising funds through an Indiegogo campaign. If the campaign is successful, the shipping will start in February 2016.
A pledge of $90 will get you a pair when they reach production. The Walk Wings are estimated to be priced at around $200.
