Professional athletes put their bodies through grueling conditions, especially during games, that many people simply can’t fathom.
However, instead of receiving the proper post-game treatment immediately after a road game, athletes generally hop on a plane not equipped to treat their ailing bodies.
In order to fix this issue, Seattle-based design firm Teague collaborated with Nike to create a one of a kind plane called the “Athlete’s Plane.”
Teague creative director Philipp Steiner said, “Air travel often hinders athletic performance due to the impact on physical, physiological and cognitive functions. When professional athletes travel across multiple time zones their team is statistically more likely to lose — the Athlete’s Plane essentially levels the playing field.”
Teague and Nike focused on four areas where they believed the commercial charters were severely lacking, which are recovery, sleep, optimal blood circulation, and space for key mental activities such as film study after the game.
Unfortunately, the Athlete’s Plane is merely a concept right now but don’t be surprised if it materializes into reality in the near future.
