Hitting a speed of more than 375 mph, this truck is capable of outrunning a high-speed bullet train. Known as ‘Shockwave,’ it holds the Guinness World Record for the fastest jet-powered truck.
Powered by three jet engines, the Shockwave is basically a modified 4-ton Peterbilt Semi that is capable of generating 36,000 horsepower.
It can cover a quarter mile in just 6.5 seconds. It holds 190 gallons of fuel and burns 180 gallons per quarter-mile race.
Now in its 30th year, the Shockwave was originally built in 1984 by drag racing legend Les Shockley. Over the years, it went through several modifications. In order to bring this incredibly fast truck to a stop, two 16-foot military parachutes are used.
