NASA’s Morpheus lander, which is essentially a vertical take-off and landing rocket, recently completed a very successful test launch.
The lander was designed in order to eventually land on planets without humans and is reusable.
Mars anyone?
The Morpheus lander is rocket-powered and utilizes lasers to search for safe landing areas, free of craters, rocks, and other potential hazards.
During its 96-second flight on April 2, the Morpheus traveled 1,300 feet and reached a height of 800 feet!
