The mystery surrounding the child’s resemblance to either parent can be ascertained when the baby is born. However you would not know for sure about the color of your baby’s eye right way. Eye color changes are going to continue till the baby reaches the age of 9 months.
But now a fertility clinic in California is letting would-be parents choose the color of their future baby’s eyes.
The Fertility Institutes clinic employs the technology used to test embryos for genetic diseases plus some modern genetic screening tech to screen them for eye color. Parents can test several embryos to chose and move forward with implantation of particular embryos that is most likely to produce a baby with the eye color of their choice.
Of course, the test can’t magically allow an embryo to produce blue eyes if the parents have a brown-eyed lineage. But if the parent has the rare eye color, they could test several embryos until they found one that fits the bill.
Choosing an unborn child’s eye color has always been a moral dilemma. Today a clinic might be offering parents a choice of eye colors but tomorrow it could be screening the embryos for hair color, height, intelligence, and a host of other traits.
