Recently, I wrote about UK-based designer Chris Labrooy’s interesting take on the iconic 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS in his ‘911’ piece.
Labrooy’s latest work revolves around the NIKE Air Presto Ultra Flyknit shoes, utilizing the material to create emoji-like designs akin to balloon animals.
The ‘Presto Ultra Flyknit’ illustrations all give off a positive, if not trippy vibe, partly because the symbols are laid across extremely vibrant backgrounds.
Since its inception in 2000, the NIKE ‘Air Presto’ has been a staple in the performance running industry, and the company actually improved the design with new materials and technology this year.
Perhaps the only things capable of competing with the popularity of the Presto Ultra Flyknit are emojis, so Labrooy’s vision actually makes a bit of sense.
