Every now and then, NASA gives us the pleasure of seeing footage of their test dummies crashing into a whole bunch of things.
Recently, NASA’s Langley Research Center published another video of their test dummies crashing airplanes and other neat flying vehicles for safety research.
By outfitting the dummies with sensors and various other instruments, researchers are able to collect a lot of useful data regarding what happens to adult human bodies in the event of crashes. Of course, the information also helps to make NASA’s aircraft and vehicles safer.
NASA’s test dummies range from 105 to 220 lbs., enabling accurate simulation across a number of different body types.
