Is this even possible in the 21st Century you might ask? Or does histories wheel have a cynical way to turn a full circle and come back to bite us?
History
In 2000, the CDC (Centre for Disease Control and Prevention) in the United States declared that measles was eliminated and eradicated as a threat. Then between January 1 and April 25, 2008, a total of 64 confirmed measles cases were reported by the CDC. This was the highest total number in six years. Studies also showed people with AIDS and HIV are more susceptible to the Measles Virus due to their immune deficiency.
Controversy
A study conducted suggested that 95% to 98% of those born before 1957 are immune to measles. These studies suggested that the Measles Virus ran its natural cause in humans which resulted in their bodies building a natural immune system to prevent the spread of the decease. Could this be why some parents are against vaccination? Are we setting mankind up for a catastrophic elimination with a weakened immune system? This remains to be seen.
The Present Day
Reports from the CDC indicates that on average 400 to 500 people die from the Measles virus every year. This amounts to an estimated 3 to 4 million people in the United States being infected each year, 48,000 were hospitalized, and 1,000 suffered encephalitis (swelling of the brain).
New York City officials took a drastic measure to stop the measles outbreak by ordering residents to get vaccinated or face fines up to $1,000. This also included the rights of unvaccinated children to visit and appear in public places. This measure was however overruled by the Court.
Over 15 other states have also reported cases this year: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Texas and Washington.
With 465 reported cases YTD, the worst since 2000, 2019 is heading towards a bleak health future. It would seem like the Measles Monster has awoken to torment our already physical weakened earthly human race.
