Audi’s latest bicycle design was recently unveiled in Japan, and on the outside it looks like your typical high-end bike.
However, the price tag the limited edition Audi Sport Racing Bike carries could buy you a solid car, at an astonishing $19,650.
First shown in Japan at Audi’s showroom in Shibuya, Tokyo last week, the bike features lightweight carbon fiber material for its frame, weighing approximately 790 grams according to the German car maker.
To put it in perspective, the Audi Sport Racing Bike frame weighs less than five iPhone 6 Plus smartphones put together.
Still, though, you could buy a trashcan full of iPhones for the price of this bike, which an Audi spokesman says weighs 5.8 kilograms in total.
“I don’t have much expertise in bicycles, but I’ve been told it’s extremely rare for a bike to weigh less than 6 kilograms,” he said.
Why the high price you ask?
According to the spokesman, the materials that make up the bike, which are both lightweight and extremely strong, are to blame for the hefty price tag.
