LG has patented a hybrid tablet-phone design.
The patent itself describes the device as a “mobile phone with a flexible display which can be folded in half.”
As you can see from the design images, this new LG patent literally looks like an iPad that can be folded down into a run-of-the-mill smartphone. This is an intriguing idea seeing as how you could just put a tablet in your pocket.
It’s clear the device is designed to have a camera, however, I’m just not sure how practical something like this is when everything that can be done on a tablet can already be done on a phone.
Maybe the differentiation comes from the camera, or maybe LG is simply attempting to stir up conversation.
Regardless, foldable phones appear to be the final frontier for tech companies.
