Kawasaki Heavy Industries has unveiled its latest innovation, Corleo, a hydrogen-powered, four-legged robotic horse designed for riders. Debuted at the Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025, Corleo integrates advanced robotics with clean energy technology to offer a unique mode of transportation.

Design and Functionality

Corleo is engineered to traverse diverse terrains, including rough and uneven surfaces. Its four independent robotic legs provide balance and stability, allowing it to navigate areas that are challenging for traditional wheeled vehicles. Each leg is equipped with sensors and adaptive mechanisms to adjust to varying ground conditions, ensuring a smooth ride for the user.

Hydrogen-Powered Efficiency

At the heart of Corleo is a 150cc hydrogen engine that generates electricity to power its movements. This eco-friendly approach results in zero emissions, aligning with global sustainability goals. The hydrogen engine provides sufficient energy for Corleo to operate efficiently across different environments.

Artificial Intelligence Integration

Corleo incorporates artificial intelligence to enhance its navigation capabilities. The AI system analyzes terrain and adjusts the robot’s movements in real-time, optimizing stability and performance. This intelligent adaptation allows Corleo to respond effectively to complex landscapes and obstacles.

Potential Applications

While currently a prototype, Corleo demonstrates the potential for innovative personal mobility solutions. Its design suggests applications in areas requiring traversal of challenging terrains, such as disaster response, exploration, and off-road transportation. Kawasaki envisions a future where such robotic vehicles could complement traditional modes of transport.
