The HEXO+ is a drone designed to follow you around and film activities such as action sports, capable of capturing incredible aerial footage for a low cost.

Xavier de le Rue, action sports filmmaker and the founder of Squadrone System in Palo Alto, California, “needed a solution that would make aerial filming possible in the most remote places: on mountains, in the snow, and in all sorts of unpredictable situations that were quite a pain to deal with when trying to sync a drone pilot, a cameraman and a rider.”

The Kickstarter campaign ended as a massive success and you can get more information from the HEXO+ website.

The drone utilizes MAVLink in order to track and communicate with your iPhone, enabling users to control zooming and the position of the drone with their phones.

Features of the HEXO+

  • 45 mph for 15 minutes on a full charge
  • Follow a user from over 150 feet away
  • DIY $300 HEXO+ kit
  • Pre-built (add your own camera) version for $600
