Bike theft is a major problem all over the world. This problem has only increased with more bikes on the roads as more and more riders try to go green. Bike owners need to spend a good amount of money on a good bike lock and carry it around in order to secure their bikes.
Now there is a creative solution that aims to outsmart the savviest of bike thieves. An industrial design student at the De Montfort University in the UK has designed a bendable bike.
This bendable bike can be secured around any post with just a push of a lever…no need to carry those heavy chains and locks anymore.
The bike works on a ratchet system built into the frame of the bike that allows it to be bendable or rigid. It remains rigid while you are riding it, just like a normal bike. But when you want to park your bike, you just need to push a lever on the bike frame to bend it and wrap around any pole, taking up much less space.
