Isn’t it incredible to watch a ball of metal ooze all over the place?
It definitely looks cool but even cooler is the fact that your mind is actually playing a trick on you.
The trippy animation comes from Takeshi Murata, who utilized old-school animation principles in order to capture the orb ripples and drips.
The illusion/animation is called Melter 3-DÂ and Murata used repeating zoetrope animations along with some high-tech gloss in order to trick you.
Essentially, syncing the spinning of the sphere with the blinking of the strobe is what creates the looping melting effect.
