We’ve been covering the circus surrounding Tesla’s autopilot system for months now and it appears the new update is ready to be slowly introduced.
Elon Musk said on Twitter that the new Autopilot 8.0 would be gradually rolled out, starting tonight, in order to minimize potential bugs that may occur.
V8.0 starts downloading tonight. Release will be gradual to make sure there aren't small regressions. Many car configs, many environments.

It is important to note that the new autopilot update is simply an over-the-air software update, of which Musk initially announced back on August 31st.
