If you love to eat avocados, there is good news for you: Researchers are paying people $300 to eat avocado every day.
Researchers from Loma Linda University (LLU), Penn State University, Tufts University, and the University of California, Los Angeles, are recruiting 250 people to consume a moderate amount of avocado flesh daily for research purposes.
Joan Sabaté, who directs the Center for Nutrition, Lifestyle and Disease Prevention at LLU, said, “The study will examine whether eating one avocado per day reduces visceral adipose fat in the abdomen.”
To qualify for the study, interested participants should be at least 25 years old. Males should have a waistline of at least 40 inches and for females, it should be at least 35 inches. Participants will either be required to eat one avocado per day throughout the six-month study, or to only eat two avocados during the same period.
LLU clinicians will provide free MRI and health screening, and participants will have to meet monthly with a dietician. At the end of six months, participants will be paid $300.
