Dubai is a city full of surprises. It is known for its amazing and fascinating architectural landmarks.
Now a new concept announced in Dubai would offer respite from the harsh desert conditions. Designed by local studio Urb, it would consist of a 93-km (57-mile) climate-controlled bicycle and walking path. The highway will loop around Dubai, connecting over 3 million residents to the key services and locations.
Sustainable and Environmentally Friendly
Named the Loop, this project pledges to be a sustainable and emissions-free transportation system. It aims to make cycling and walking the primary mode of transport for daily commutes. The project will also include multiple pocket parks, sports facilities, and vertical farming initiatives to improve the area’s food production. Additionally, it would be packed with lots of greenery, with large numbers of plants and trees.
Not only that, but it will also serve as a community gathering spot and offer wellness amenities.
This multipurpose utopia will connect residents all over Dubai by 2040
“The Loop is planned to connect more than 3 million residents using a healthy mode of transport, to key services and locations by walking and cycling within minutes,” explained Urb’s press release. “It will provide an enjoyable climate controlled all-year environment, to make walking and cycling the primary mode of transport for Dubai’s residents, in line with its new 20-minute city initiative. The aim is to make cycling and walking the primary mode of transport for daily commutes for more than 80% of Dubai’s residents by 2040.”
