Whoa.
EMC has agreed to be acquired by Michael Dell and partners in a $67 billion cash-and-stock deal.
Michael Dell and EMC Chief Executive Joe Tucci made the announcement on CNBC on Monday of last week, in what is the biggest-ever acquisition in the U.S. tech space and will see the buyers pay $33.15 per EMC share in the deal.
“The combination of Dell and EMC creates an enterprise solutions powerhouse,” said Dell in a prepared statement. “Our new company will be exceptionally well-positioned for growth in the most strategic areas of next-generation IT.”
It remains to be seen how the two companies will perform together, but one thing is for sure.
Dell has officially made the transition from merely a consumer PC business to a massive IT solutions provider for companies.
