The Tianjin Solar car was recently unveiled in China at the sixth World Intelligence Conference. It is the world’s first 100% solar-powered electric vehicle (SEV). Tianjin does not use fossil fuels or external power sources, making it truly emission-free. It is expected to reduce Carbon emissions by 25 kg per 100 km (55 lbs. per 62 miles).
The vehicle is a result of efforts by multi-organizational collaboration. It was recently showcased at the World Intelligence Conference. At present, the vehicle is on tour in mainland China.
The car was jointly developed by 42 companies and three universities, and it took five months to do so. It also has 47 advanced technologies; out of these, some are available in top-tier vehicles.
China’s solar electric vehicle has no steering wheel
There is no steering wheel in this car since the automobile is purportedly equipped with Level 4 autonomous driving. Vehicle dimensions: 4,080 mm long × 1,770 mm wide × 1,811 mm tall (13.4 x 5.8 x 5.9 ft.).
It weighs about 2,250 pounds (1,020 kg). Three passengers, including the driver, can sit in this solar car. The maximum speed of the vehicle is 79.2km/h (49 mph). But, the maximum tested range is 74.8 km (~47 miles). The car’s Battery pack has an energy density of 330 Wh/kg.
