Made by a Quebec-headquartered company, the versatile Genimax HR is a tent-top camper built for four seasons of adventure hunting. It is designed as a tiny, towable nugget for exploring the natural world behind a passenger car, ATV, or snowmobile.
The pint-sized base-camp-in-a-box unfurls into a small but it is equipped capable living space with a kitchen, bed, shower, and solarized off-grid electrical power. In winter, simply swap the tires for skis to use as a snowmobile support trailer.
As the founder Maxime Cantin aimed to make a camping trailer lighter and more affordable than what he found around the market, the HR has been designed specifically for off-road use with just 8.7 feet (2.7 m) in total length, being perfect for tagging along behind a 4×4, ATV, or snowmobile. It measures 60 inches (152 cm) in wide, making it just an inch wider than a classic Willys Jeep CJ-2A.
It is simply a basic cargo box weighing a mere 375 lb (170 kg). Unlike other small trailers with wood used, the HR is built in favor of a full aluminum frame and composite panels glued and triple-sealed into a watertight box that helps to avoid rotting or warping. Its base trailer comes equipped with a rear and side drawer with each capable can carry 200 lb (91 kg).
Genimax offers two lists of available add-ons, one of them is a group of trailer-integrated/mounted options including a 200-lb-rated roof rack with a two-person rooftop tent, kitchen and sink counters, a retractable awning, a battery with inverter and solar panel. The company also offers side tracks for mounting additional options like a hand shower, propane tank, and fuel can.
The most fun accessory of them is the skis. The wheels can be removed and bolted on the skis to narrow the overall trailer width to 48 in (122 cm) and to be snowmobile-support duty. Not only that, there’s an available diesel heater, to help keep warm during those utterly frigid Canadian nights.
The other accessories group includes 20-L and 35-L electric fridge box options, a pop-up privacy tent, a butane stove, a portable lithium power station, a portable toilet, and various gear-specific carriers and racks.
