Hair loss can be caused by either genetics or the environment. More than 80 percent of men and nearly half of women experience significant hair loss during their lifetime.
Hair loss is undesirable that can’t be prevented. But thankfully, now researchers from the National Natural Science Foundation of China have successfully used artificial intelligence (AI) to neutralize baldness through a microneedle patch.
This exciting possibility to tackle hair loss by using AI designed microneedles patches could effectively restore hair in balding mice.
AI helped to predict compounds that could neutralize baldness-causing reactive oxygen species in the scalp. An overabundance of reactive oxygen species overloads and damages the body’s antioxidant enzymes which prevent damage to the hair follicles.
Microneedle patch effectively regenerated hair on mice
The microneedles patch neutralized this baldness-causing reactive oxygen species in the scalp and regenerated thicker and denser hair in mice suffering from alopecia in just 13 days.
This study has proved the potential for computer-based methods for use in the design of future nanozyme treatments for potential hair regeneration in humans.
