We’ve seen table tennis robots before, but never a badminton-playing robot.
That is, until now…
Students and professors at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China built a badminton-playing robot that will endlessly rally with you until you pass out or simply quit playing.
By utilizing two high definition cameras to manufacture stereo images that are wirelessly streamed to an external computer for processing, the badminton-playing robot can track and calculate an opponent’s shot trajectory so it’s always in perfect position.
In fact, the badminton-playing robot can cover line to line on the court with ease and essentially return every single shot.
However, it is worth noting that a very skilled player could beat the robot as it simply is not quick enough to get to drop shots and stuff like that, but it makes for a great practice partner.
Or, if you’re simply looking to get some exercise and volley back in forth for three straight hours, this badminton-playing robot is exactly what you need!
