Toyota has partnered with All Nippon Airways in an effort to design an airline seat that is comfortable for a “wide range of body sizes.”
To avoid the hunched over feeling most plane seat gives passengers today, the new seats will feature better support for the pelvis by distributing pressure throughout the seat.
Softer materials and a more rounded design help to avoid stabbing and uncomfortable plastic parts located on most seats today.
The new seats from ANA will be seen on domestic (Japanese) flights as early as this year, with plans to install them on six 767-300s by next year.
