Scientists Achieve Major Breakthrough in Cancer Treatment: 99% of Cancer Cells Eliminated in Lab Using Vibrating Molecules

By: | January 9th, 2025

Cancer continues to pose a significant global health challenge, necessitating innovative treatment solutions. Recent research has introduced a groundbreaking approach: harnessing vibrating molecules to destroy cancer cells with high efficiency. In laboratory experiments, scientists successfully eliminated 99% of cancer cells using this novel technique.

How It Works: Vibrating Molecules as Cancer Killers

This breakthrough centers on aminocyanine molecules, which function as “molecular jackhammers” when activated by near-infrared light. The stimulation induces the formation of plasmons—collective electron oscillations within the molecules. These synchronized vibrations generate mechanical forces that compromise the cancer cell membrane, ultimately causing cell death.

Selective Targeting of Cancer Cells

Notably, this approach exhibits high selectivity, predominantly targeting cancer cells while sparing healthy ones. This selective mechanism could minimize the side effects typically associated with conventional treatments like chemotherapy and radiation.

Although still in the early development phase, this research marks a major step forward in cancer treatment. The technique offers hope for more effective and less invasive therapies, potentially transforming the future of oncology.
