However, this comes with a warning–it is not for the faint of heart or those individuals with Thalassophobia (fear of deep water)!
Dubai already boasts awe-inspiring architectural inventions that the rest of the world can only marvel at! Well, they’ve just added the latest addition to their accolade of achievements in the form of the world’s deepest pool, which forms part of a mega underwater city!
After building the world’s largest mall, and the tallest skyscraper, they had to do something to up the ante!
The Stats For Your Entertainment Pleasure!
The scary depth of 196 feet (60 meters) is undoubtedly the newest dream diving destination of any deep-water enthusiast! This has seen the Dubai attraction surpass its predecessor, which had a depth of 147 feet (45 meters), located in Poland.
To put it in perspective, with the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games starting on the 21st of July 2021 – this pool took the capacity of six Olympic-sized pools to fill to the brim! This makes it a staggering four times bigger than any other pool worldwide.
The pool’s water temperature is maintained at 86 degrees Fahrenheit (30 degrees Celcius), which is great for divers that prefer a thin wetsuit, or even a bathing suit to explore all that the sunken city has on offer.
Currently, the attraction is by invitation, only and Dubai’s crown prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum was the first to investigate the depth of the new pool.
The pool is located indoors and is in an oyster-shaped tank that is 1,500 square meters in circumference.
What The Pool Has To Offer
There are a plethora of activities to satisfy the curiosity of visitors. Divers can look forward to exploring underwater apartments and even try their hand at playing aquatic pool in the arcade room!
The latest advancements in lighting and sounds have been added to the masterpiece, and the pool also boasts an underwater film studio with a fully equipped media editing room.
Will we perhaps see a remake of Titanic or Jaws being filmed here soon?
