Porsche has purchased 10 percent of Rimac Automobili, a young Croatian company with a knack for innovation, specifically as it pertains to electric cars.
The investment marks the beginning of what Porsche claims will be a close collaboration between the two and benefits Porsche by making the company privy to Rimac’s proven expertise in electric vehicle and components development.
In fact, Rimac has been tasked with providing the batteries for the forthcoming Aston Martin Valkyrie and powering the all-electric Jaguar E-Type Zero.
Porsche senior exec Lutz Meschke had this to say:
“Rimac has impressively demonstrated its credentials in the field of electromobility.” He later said, “Rimac’s ideas and approaches are extremely promising, which is why we hope to enter into close collaboration with the company in the form of a development partnership.”
