A Waymo autonomous minivan was involved in a crash in Chandler, Ariz., this past week. It’s yet another accident involving a self-driving car over the past few months.
Luckily, there were only minor injuries reported. It serves as a reminder, however, that the tech isn’t quite ready to become the future of transportation just yet.

The image above shows the aftermath of the crash. Waymo responded by releasing a video from the vehicle’s dash cam along with a statement:
“Today while testing our self-driving vehicle in Chandler, Arizona, another car traveling in an oncoming lane swerved across the median and struck our minivan,” a spokesperson said in the statement. “Our team’s mission is to make our roads safer – it is at the core of everything we do and motivates every member of our team. We are concerned about the well-being and safety of our test driver and wish her a full recovery.”
