Daily, we read about how renewable energies are proving their value worldwide. More and more people are taking advantage of the benefits of these environmentally friendly solutions.
Now, in a big breakthrough, John Hingley and his team at Renovagen have developed the Roll-Array: a high-power photovoltaic (PV) array that rolls out like a carpet.
Renovagen, a renewable energy startup based in the UK, offers a standalone, easier to install, remotely deployable, and very flexible PV solar panel.
Roll-Array is ideal for situations that demand a considerable amount of power in remote locations
In case of disaster response or on a battlefield, power is usually provided with the help of generators, which is not only costly but dangerous, as well. In such situations, Roll-Array is a perfect solution, since it’s very compact and can be deployed much faster, with less effort.
A roll-out solar power array can be easily transported by a standard 4×4 vehicle and is capable of generating up to 100 kWp (kilowatt peak).
Roll-Array is extremely quick and easy to install. When pulled by a vehicle, this roll-out solar power array can be easily deployed in about two minutes. For setting up the entire system, just two people can manage the entire job. The best part is that they can accomplish the entire installation in just five minutes. In comparison, installing rigid PV panels would take 22 man-hours.
Hingley said, “It is like a microgrid in a box. It has all of the components integrated into it that you need to run a 24-hour microgrid.”
