The World's First Permanent Ice Hotel Opens 200km North of the Arctic Circle

Any guesses on what the world’s first permanent ice hotel is called?

IceHotel 365. Cause you know, it’s a hotel made of ice that’s open 365 days a year.

Located 200 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle, the ice hotel spans 2,100 square meters and features 20 suites, a bar, and an art gallery.

Incredibly, the hotel is comprised of 30,000 liters of water taken from the nearby Torne River and will be responsible for housing some 50,000 visitors in 2017.

Of course, it’s no accident that the year-round ice hotel is located where it is as it takes advantage of the region’s near constant daylight between May and July.

Solar panels help keep IceHotel 365 cold throughout the summer and at times the temperature within the hotel can drop to as low as 23 degrees Fahrenheit…. Brrrrrrrr!!!
