Georgia Tech’s humanoid robot DURUS is one of the more impressive robots I’ve seen lately, namely because its walking motion seems so fluid and life-like.
Amber-Lab’s humanoid robot DURUS can mimic the way humans walk by performing natural heel-strike and toe push-off behaviors, showcasing a walking style with more swagger, if you will, than many of the other humanoid robots in development.
To stay balanced and maintain its steady walking style, DURUS relies on software that is constantly being tweaked to successfully land its next step on the ground.
Ankle springs also help the humanoid robot DURUS walk smoothly, but perhaps what makes the robot look so good is its kicks.
How many other robots have you seen wearing tennis shoes during experiments?
Personally, I haven’t seen a single one, so DURUS is definitely the most stylish humanoid robot by default.
