Nike has collaborated with architect Greg Lynn to develop a microclimate chair for athletes to use during or after games.
The sleek-looking microclimate chair utilizes 70 embedded Peltier thermoelectric pads, which heat up or cool down to meet the desired temperature or electrical charge.
Obviously, for athletes it is imperative they take care of their muscles, and specifically, the muscle group used most often in their particular sport.
For example, a soccer player could use the microclimate chair to keep their legs warm on the bench, while keeping their core cool.
The new microclimate chair could certainly be a game-changer in the near future as it wouldn’t surprise me to see these chairs make up an entire bench or fill a locker room for players to use at their convenience.
As technology grows, so does our understanding of sports, athletes, and how to take care of our bodies, so hopefully we see more and more products crop up like the microclimate chair in the future.
