Elon Musk’s pipe dream is going to come true as the first Hyperloop tubes have been delivered to the Nevada desert as part of an eventual test track for the technology.
If all goes as planned, in the near future, we can get shot to our destination like a bullet coming out of a gun. These ordinary looking tubes are going to propel people in pods at such a high speed that we could be able to cover about 700 miles in one hour.
These tubes will be incorporated into the two-mile track that will test the company’s full-scale prototype system. However, Hyperloop Technologies is searching for the appropriate location where the system can be installed. Until then, the tubes will wait in Nevada.
The pods in which passengers will be placed are yet to be designed. A Hyperloop pod design contest is going to be held at the end of the month at Texas A&M University, where more than 120 teams will present their ideas.
Rob Lloyd, CEO of Hyperloop Technologies, in an interview with CNN Money, said that the startup is planning to complete their Hyperloop by 2021 or maybe 2020 if they “continue to see the progress we are making today.”
