To listen to the healing sounds of Mother Nature, a group of interior architecture students from the Estonian Academy of Arts amplified the pure natural sounds of the forest…the wind blowing through trees, rustling of the leaves, and rainfall with birds chirping in the background.
They built three king-size wooden megaphones, each with a three-meter diameter, in a lush wooded area in the Pähni Nature Centre, near the Latvian border. Each megaphone structure is large enough to seat several people. The installation is accessible to all hikers and nature lovers for free where they can sit and relax inside these megaphones to have that surreal acoustic experience.
These giant wooden megaphones are positioned at such a distance and angle that sound feeds from all the three directions to create a unique surround-sound effect in the forest.
