Apple’s latest step in moving towards renewable electricity is attempting to offset the energy used to make every iPhone with renewables.
The full announcement explains the company is working with Foxconn in order to build out 400 megawatts of solar infrastructure that will offset the energy that’s used to manufacture the iPhone in Zhengzhou.
In addition, Apple and its partners in China are looking to generate a whopping 2 gigawatts of power by 2020 through solar, wind, and hydropower systems.
Obviously, this is a major commitment, but a project only a monster company like Apple has the power, no pun intended, to pull off.
Clean energy in China is also huge step forward seeing as how the country consistently finds itself the most polluting country in the world, with no signs of slowing down.
