Annual Call for Proposals

In the run-up to this year’s United Nations Climate Change Conference, taking place from November 30 to December 11, 2015 in Paris, MIT Climate CoLab has issued an international call for a series of plans to solve regional and global climate issues in China, India, the United States, Europe, and other developed and developing areas.

Leveraging Crowds

MIT Climate CoLab, a crowdsourcing platform and part of MIT’s Center for Collective Intelligence, currently has a community of over 30,000 members from around the world. The CoLab is just one of many organizations around the world seeking to improve the analysis of vulnerability of critical infrastructure and systems to climate change. These organizations are working to leverage crowds and government datasets and to create software tools to provide more accurate assessments of climate change.

MIT Climate CoLab has broken down the complex problem of climate into sub-problems so that the crowd can work on issues of more manageable size. Professor Thomas Malone, in a Reddit.com AMA from April, 2015, answered many questions to help explain the CoLab’s work.

For those interested in building their own regional and global proposals, see the MIT CoLab Guide.
