Airbus Helicopters has announced the development of the new X6 heavy-lift helicopter as a potential replacement for the Super Puma.
The X6 heavy-lift helicopter will be developed for the civilian market, specifically the oil and gas industry, with a military variant planned for development at some point in the future.
The first X6 helicopters are expected to be delivered to the commercial market by 2022–2023 and will able to carry 19 passengers and feature fly by wire controls.
