The kind folks over at Make, in association with Advancer Technologies, recently posted an awesome step-by-step tutorial encompassing how to build your own wolverine claws to celebrate the launch of their fourth-generation muscle sensor, the MyoWare.
The MyoWare has its own Kickstarter campaign, set to run until June 6th, 2015, and I’d have to say a “how to” guide for building muscle-sensitive wolverine claws is a great marketing technique.
By flexing your forearm muscle, (insert crazy sharp knife noise here), the claws shoot out about 4 inches away from your knuckles. Relaxing your forearm results in the claws retracting, not to mention the fact you can lock the claws through an additional muscle-activated locking mechanism.
If you need extra motivation to support the campaign, one sensor for every five backers will be sent to Limbitless Solutions, a non-profit that builds and donates 3D-printed myoelectric prosthetic arms to children in need around the world.
