A while back, I wrote about DARPA exploring the idea of creating a real life, rocket resistant, Halo-like bubble shield.
Today, Popular Science is reporting that it is Boeing who has won the patent for a similar protective force field capable of shielding vehicles and people from explosions.
While it won’t stop bullets, the bubble shield works by first detecting explosions in the vicinity of a vehicle, then swiftly heating up air or water that’s in between the vehicle and the blast in order to create a protective plasma shield.
This force field of sorts is denser than normal air and helps to keep vehicles out of harm’s way.
All I know is, as a Halo enthusiast, I can’t wait to see the first video of this technology in action.
It better not disappoint!
