Mercedes-Benz rolled out its AMG GT3 racecar on the first press day of the Geneva International Motor Show Tuesday, March 3, 2015 in Geneva, Switzerland.

It replaces the company’s current GT3 racer SLS AMG GT. The new racecar will use the same 6.3-liter V8 engine as the outgoing SLS AMG GT, but it features extensive aerodynamic bodywork that gives it a menacing look.

The exterior is rife with lightweight carbon-fiber. Doors, front and rear bumpers, side skirts, ventilated front fenders, and ventilated hood are all constructed with carbon fiber to shave off excess weight. It’s light, but rigid aluminum protective space-frame also reduces its weight significantly.

Also noticeable are its improved aerodynamics and a bevy of race-specific technology and equipment, including a six-speed sequential gearbox, carbon fiber shell seat, adjustable racing steering wheel and pedal cluster.

The AMG GT3 will be built at AMG’s Affalterbach plant in Germany. It will go on sale later this year, and customers will start getting their cars by the end of 2015.
