Amazon has been experimenting with some unique delivery methods recently, but the company’s latest idea might be its wildest yet.
The e-commerce king has reportedly filed for numerous patents regarding 3D printers housed in “mobile manufacturing hubs”.
Essentially, Amazon wants to be able to rapidly 3D print goods/products in the company’s delivery trucks, cutting the amount of warehouse space needed and also expediting the overall delivery system.
“Time delays between receiving an order and shipping the item to the customer may reduce customer satisfaction and affect revenues generated,” Amazon says in the documents.
To be honest, now I’m interested to see what Jeff Bezos rolls out first, drone deliveries or mobile 3D printing trucks?
Regardless, Amazon continues to push the envelope when it comes to revolutionizing order fulfillment and shopping in general.
