Prefab has become a major buzzword in the world of design today. Prefabricated and flatpack homes and furniture offer extreme portability, they are quick to erect, easy to transport, and often cheaper than their conventional counterparts.
The Florida-based prefab home builder Cubicco recently released a new version of their flatpack homes offering all these benefits. Cubicco claims that these flatpack homes can even withstand hurricane winds of up to 180mph (290 km/h).
The basic version of the flatpack home measures 63 square meters or 685 square feet. It is a fully-equipped home that features two bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen, lounge, dining area and an office…enough room for a small family to live comfortably. It also has an option to add a deck, ramp, and a porch.
These flatpack homes can also harvest rainwater and transform solar power into energy. The roofs of these homes can withstand up to 10 feet of snow.
The basic unit costs a modest $58,500 if someone opts to build the home personally. It can also be expanded to form a bigger home later on. A price of a fully built home is $115,300.
