Pet fish have always been confined to the fish tank. But in an attempt to liberate the fish and help them get out, drive around and see the sights, the first self-driving vehicle for fish has been developed.
With the aim to show that the technology is so easy that even animals can benefit from it, a Dutch tech-design firm Studio Diip made a platform to hold a fish tank and attached four DC motor-powered wheels and a battery pack. The vehicle is controlled by an Arduino programmable microchip that is housed on a small circuit board.
A webcam monitors the tank from above and tracks the fish’s position in the tank. The programmed microchip analyzes the image feed to determine which way the fish is swimming and steers the fish tank in that direction.
