Daredevil Nik Wallenda, most notable for becoming the first person to cross the Grand Canyon and Niagara Falls on a high wire, broke two more world records yesterday after he crossed the Chicago skyline on a tightrope 500 feet above the ground… While blindfolded!
By completing the tightrope walk between three skyscrapers, without a safety harness, Wallenda is now the proud owner of the records for the highest blindfolded walk and steepest tightrope incline.
The 35-year-old Wallenda broke the steepest tightrope record by walking at an incline of 19 degrees between the Marina City west tower and the Leo Burnett Building for a total distance of two city blocks.
He set the highest blindfolded walk record walking a tightrope from Marina City west to the east tower at more than 500 feet high.
Wallenda told the Discovery Channel, “It’s all about pushing myself to become better at what I do and hoping to inspire others to become better at what they do.”
