Looking to Crack a Safe? This 3D-Printed Safe Cracker Only Costs $150.

Trying to get into that safe you lost the combination to or looking to pull off the next million-dollar heist? With a custom Arduino, 3D-printed components and some salvaged electronics, security professionals Luke Janke and Jay Davis built a $150 safe cracker.

The invention is designed to be place on top of a combination lock where it then autodials combinations until the lock is compromised. While it may not be the most efficient device ever, the safe cracker can supposedly crack a code in under 4 days. That’s incredible for a safe cracker with only a $150 price tag.

Originally, the safe cracker took nearly 2 weeks to crack codes so 4 days or less shows the amount of improvement it has made already. Janke and Davis say their device can be preloaded with a ton of default combinations that could allow the safe cracker to complete jobs in minutes.

“A lot of these locks have about 10 default combinations which never ever get changed and they would be the ones you would want to try out first,” said Davis.
