Caterpillar, a company best known for making heavy duty construction equipment, has launched a rugged Smartphone Cat S50. The company claims that it is the most durable Android phone yet.
Cat S50 is suitable for outdoor pursuits
The Cat S50 is an Android KitKat device fitted with a 4.7-inch 1280×720 display protected with Gorilla Glass 3. It is IP67 certified LTE device that means it is completely dust tight and can block out water under a meter of water for half an hour.
The 4.7-inch touch screen of Cat S50 features wet finger tracking, which means its capacitive screen can read touches and function normally even if the fingers or the screen is wet.
Other features
The phone is powered by a quad-core 1.2GHz processor with 8GB of expandable storage. Its 8 megapixel camera with flash can record HD video. 2,630-mAh battery of Cat S50 offers up to 16 hours of talk time. The Cat S50 is Military 810G rated and is capable of surviving drops from 1.2m (4 feet).
