The promo video for JIBO makes the robot look extremely promising, from taking family photos, carrying conversations, helping a child learn, videoconferencing and even showing off facial recognition capabilities.
It’s hard to tell if JIBO actually performs as well as the marketing video makes it out to but for $499, it is certainly intriguing as a intuitive family robot.
Designed by by Cynthia Breazeal, an MIT associate professor who specializes in personal robots, JIBO also has a developer kit model that gives people the capability of expanding the robot’s functions.
