DARPA, or The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, is looking into developing a portable cylinder that can be deployed and blown up into an impenetrable wall in the heat of battle.
For those of you familiar with the Halo video game series, chances are you have an idea of what DARPA is talking about since the game features a “bubble shield”.
The project is nicknamed Block Access to Deny Entry (BlockADE), and would be blown up at the push of a button, be see-through, and capable of stopping gun fire and even rockets.
DARPA says, “These deployable systems are expected to have many potential applications ranging from blocking access to munitions caches to creating temporary buildings for those impacted by natural disasters.”
