Softwheel, a company out of Tel Aviv, Israel, has improved the wheel on a standard wheelchair to where it can now ride down stairs and easily take on bumps of any kind.
Softwheel’s “Selective Suspension Technology”, which activates when a wheel encounters an impact above a certain threshold, can also be applied to bicycle wheels.
Essentially, upon activation, the wheel’s hub relocates from its central location to an area capable of absorbing the impact in order to create a cushion for the rider.
